Carmen Yarbrough

Carmen Yarbrough started coaching the Chiefettes in August of 2006.  Since Carmen took over the program, the Chiefettes transformed into a highly competitive program competing annually at Universal Dance Association (UDA) Nationals, regional UDA competitions, and local competitions within Georgia.  The Chiefettes have also evolved into a staple Spirit group at McIntosh by dancing on the sidelines of football games, and performing halftime of basketball games. In recent years, the Chiefettes transitioned to compete with GHSA (Georgia High School Assocoation) since competition dance became a sanctioned sport within Georgia.  Since then, the Chiefettes have won 3 State Championships (2019, 2023, 2024), Runner Up (2020, 2021), and Game Day State Champions (2023).

While serving as head coach of the Chiefettes, Carmen has watched several dancers go on to dance at the collegiate level including the University of Georgia, Georgia Tech, Georgia College and State University, Georgia College and State University, Valdosta State, the University of Kentucky, Southeastern Louisiana University, Memphis University, College of Charleston, Vanderbilt University, Mercer University, and the University of South Carolina.

Carmen has been a member of the National Dance Coaches Association and Georgia Cheerleading Coaches Association.  She is a member of the Georgia Dance Coaches Association and serves as the Secretary, and serves on the Georgia High School Association (GHSA) Competitive Dance Advisory Council since it's inception in 2018.
